Strategy 1 - Leverage your time for money

STRATEGIES TO MAKING MONEY

1)    LEVERAGING YOUR TIME FOR MONEY

The strategy of trading your time for money is a widely used income earning strategy, utilized by the larger populace - doctors, lawyers, accountants, laborers, etc. These will largely dedicate most their time to giving more and more of themselves to their work and they build themselves to positions of abundance. The minutes it takes to put an extra effort to

§  work harder, think faster, be more innovative and proactive,

§  come in an hour earlier to the office,

§  dedicate just a little bit more time than everyone else,

§  read more and always strive to know more each day than you did before

That is the very strategy that will see you succeed and climb the ladder faster than everyone else. Yes, hard work and dedication pays huge dividends. Nothing in life will ever come easy, you need to work hard for it; value every minute of your day and use it to better who you are.

The strategy of selling your time to make money is one that the middle and lower classes consider the most important. It is more appropriately referred to the money you receive for selling your time to an employer. It is often represented as salary or wages. You’ll often hear well-intentioned parents telling their children to find a “good job”, preferably one “with benefits”.

The rate you receive for your time depends on how rare and in demand your skills are to society. A gifted brain surgeon, for instance, can charge millions of emalangeni per year because there simply aren’t a lot of men or women who can do the job. Someone who pushes carts at a discount retailer earns less not because they are any less intrinsically valuable as a person, but because virtually anyone in good health can push a cart, causing a huge supply of potential workers to drive down wages.

To earn more money therefore through this strategy, you have to Invest in Yourself and improve the rate you can charge, work more hours, or a combination of the two. This type of income is the most oppressive form of earning a living because you only generate money when you are actively laboring, and most times the amount or value you receive is set by someone else. A brilliant lawyer may earn millions a year, but he can’t continue to live off legal fees if he isn’t working. That may be fine if you love your job, but for most people, there are other things that they would rather be doing.

Investing in Yourself

Investing in self can take many forms, some of which include “Getting out of debt”, paying your existing debts in time and possibly learning or developing new skills that will serve to enhance your life. Remember that:
There’s only one guaranteed investment in life, and that’s you. Yes… you.

You are the most important place in which you can put your time and money, and yet you are probably the one thing that tends to get neglected in life. When other people’s priorities come up or it’s time to sacrifice something, you might be the first to bend. But investing in yourself is not a selfish act. In fact, by helping make your life better, you will by extension liberate others to better their lives. Investing in yourself is the best way to ensure that you are well-taken care in the future, too.

Why is investing in yourself so important? Besides being the person you have to spend the most time with, you are also the best example of seeing an immediate return on investment. Have you ever invested in an extra hour of sleep and noticed immediately how much better you felt? Have you ever invested a little extra money each month into a savings account to find that you had a comfortable cushion when you needed it? Unlike other investments out there, investing in yourself is never a risk, because it always pays off.

So, if you are to have a chance to succeed in the strategy of leveraging your time for money, you must do something that you love, you must find that “profession” that will fulfil who you are and then commit your heart to it. You must Invest in Yourself, nurture and develop who the You inside truly is.
